Rio Maior Salt Mines
The President of the Republic visited the County of Rio Maior, commencing his tour with a visit to the salt mines, where he was received by the Officers of the Salt Producers Agricultural Cooperative Society.
After this the President visited the Nobre Alimentação SA food production facility where he toured several production areas.
Later, President Cavaco Silva visited the Rio Maior Sports Complex (Desmor), which includes a High Performance Centre.
Still in the sports grounds, the President met the national feminine under-19 soccer football team, who were there under training, and was greeted by several Olympic athletes, after which he attended the preparation of athletes for triathlon, athletics and swimming.
At the end of the visit the President of the Republic delivered an allusive speech of his journey to Rio Maior County.
