On board “KV Tor”
In the second stage of his official visit to Norway, the President of the Republic visited, in the coastal city of Bergen, the Norwegian Fisheries Centre, accompanied by the Norwegian Minister of Fisheries, Ms. Elisabeth Aspaker, and by the Portuguese Minister of Agriculture and the Sea, Ms. Assunção Cristas.
Prior to a working meeting held between researchers and officers responsible for sea linked institutions from both countries, President Cavaco Silva took part in a welcoming session dedicated to the Portuguese delegation, during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Norwegian Institute of Sea Research and the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.
The President of the Republic addressed a speech on the occasion.
Later, the President visited in the port of Bergen, the fish market and also, berthed there, the Norwegian Cost Guard vessel “KV Tor”, where a presentation was made on the activity of that military component and on the sustainability of the fisheries and the sustainable management of marine resources.
Still in the port area, the President visited the historical “Bryggen” zone, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.
