Speech in Strasbourg
The President of the Republic was received in the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, as included in the programme of his official visit to the European Institutions, and delivered a speech to the members of Parliament, during a ceremonial plenary session.
Welcomed on arrival by the Speaker of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, President Cavaco Silva received the honours of the protocol and later held a meeting with his host.
At the end of the ceremonial session, the President of the Republic held a press conference jointly with Speaker Martin Schulz who later hosted a luncheon in honour of the Portuguese Head of State.
