Decoration ceremony
The President of the Republic held a reception, in the Residence of the Portuguese Embassy in Bogotá, with the members of the Portuguese Community in Colombia.
After a short speech, President Cavaco Silva decorated, with the insignia of Commander of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator, Prof. Doctor Jerónimo Pizarro, a Portuguese-Colombian academician and researcher, specialized in Portuguese literature, particularly in the work of Fernando Pessoa, who had translated into Spanish several works by Portuguese authors, is the head of the Chair of Portuguese Studies in the University of the Andes, and who will be the Commissioner of the Portuguese Presence in the Bogotá International Book Fair.
The event brought together a few hundred Portuguese nationals and Luso-descendants residing in Colombia, which was followed by a social gathering, celebrating the State Visit that the President is carrying out to that Country, and during which he had the opportunity to talk with many of those present.
