Greeting airmen returned from Afghanistan
The President of the Republic visited Air Force Base No. 6 (BA6), in Montijo, where he had the opportunity of welcoming the Air Force Detachment which recently completed its mission in Afghanistan.
During the visit the President of the Republic also took the opportunity to examine the specific aspects and the mission of BA6, of checking the integration of the new C-295 transport aircraft and to ascertain the conditions of the EH-101 helicopter fleet.
The retinue included the Minister for National Defence, the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Air Force Chief of General Staff.
When greeting the airmen which arrived from Afghanistan, the President of the Republic interpreted the public recognition for the services they rendered the Country and reiterated his trust in those that, serving in the Air Force and specifically in BA6, continue to work with effort and dedication towards the objective of modern and efficient Armed Forces.
