Arrival in Funchal
The Spanish Monarchs, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia, were welcomed in Funchal by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, at the start of a three day Official Visit to the Madeira Autonomous Region.
After the formalities of the protocol, the playing of the national anthems and the review of the guard of honour, the Spanish Monarchs paid their respects to the authorities of the Region who awaited them at the airport, before leaving for the centre of Funchal.
