Received by a guard of honour of Volunteer Firemen, the President of the Republic presided at a welcoming session in the Castelo de Paiva County Hall, during which he addressed a speech.
Later, President Cavaco Silva took a short walk to the new Municipal Library, which he officially opened.
At Oliveira do Arda, in the parish of Raiva, the President of the Republic officially opened the Temporary Welcoming Centre for children and youths at risk – CAT, where a commemorating plaque was unveiled. This was followed by a visit to the facilities, after which he watched the performance of a short juvenile play.
