Opening of the Library in Guarda
The President of the Republic officially opened the Eduardo Lourenço Municipal Library, in Guarda, and presided at the Celebration of Guarda’s “Civitas Diem”.
After unveiling the plaque alluding to the inaugural ceremony, the President toured the facilities and the photographic exhibition on show there, named “An eternal and loving view. Guarda, Eduardo Lourenço and Virgílio Ferreira”.
The ceremony ended with the launching of a stamp commemorating the event and with the presentation of the book “Eduardo Lourenço and his Library: a legacy with a future”.
Later, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva presided at the Ceremony celebrating the Guarda “Civitas Diem”, during which he delivered a speech.
The 2008 Eduardo Lourenço Prize was then handed to the Councillor for Culture and Tourism of the Government of the Region of Extremadura, representing the family of the recently deceased prize winner, Angel Pámpano.
