Encounter in Newark
On the second day of his journey to New York to attend the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, the President of the Republic met, in Newark, N.J., with members of the Portuguese Community in the East Coast of the United States.
President Cavaco Silva addressed a speech to the hundreds of Portuguese and Luso-descendants who gathered in the New Jersey Performance Arts Centre, after which a concert was performed by fado singers Ricardo Ribeiro and Luso-American Nathalie Pires.
This was followed by a reception in honour of the Portuguese Communities in the region.
