New means for donations

Launching of the Online Channel of the Food Bank at Meeting of Social Partners

Mrs. Cavaco Silva was the guest of honour at the opening session of the 5th Annual Meeting of Social Partners, promoted by Microsoft Portugal, during which the launching took place of the new Online Channel of the Food Bank Against Hunger.
The new technological application was made available as from today, through a partnership between Microsoft and Link Consulting, and presented at the opening of the Meeting; Mrs. Cavaco Silva was the first online donator, selecting a bag of basic foodstuffs and donating it to the Food Bank.
Joined by Ms. Isabel Jonet, President of the Food Bank an by Ms. Cláudia Goya, Director General of Microsoft Portugal, Mrs. Cavaco Silva exchanged views with these two officers over the potential and the available functions of the new donation channel offered to the Food Bank that, from now on, allows Portuguese residing abroad to also contribute to the foodstuff collection campaigns.
The online channel became immediately active and available for donations and will continue open until 5 June. The Campaign for the Collection of Foodstuffs in super and hypermarkets will take place during the next week end.
Later, Mrs. Cavaco Silva was invited to deliver the opening address at the Annual Meeting of Social Partners, which comprises approximately two hundred representatives of Non Governmental organizations (ONG) and Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS), from the whole country.
