Message from Mrs. Cavaco Silva with respect to the Meeting with Mothers of Children who are Different
I am sharing with you the information that I will be having a meeting, in the Palace of Belém, with a few Mothers of Children who are Different.
As you know, May is the month when we celebrate Mother’s Day, and I will do so with these Mothers, who have to be the face and the voice of their Children.
My wish is that, with my help, that voice and that face reach everybody. I want everybody to feel that these persons have great needs and that we have not yet been able to give them an answer. I want their difficulties not to hinder their being with us, on our streets, in our playhouses, in restaurants, in museums.
I want them never to feel abandoned, or stranded, even when their Parents depart from us before they do.
This is our tribute to the Mothers and Fathers who do not give up, who do not renounce.
We owe much, very much, to these Mothers and to these Fathers. Because, through their fight, through their love, we succeeded in gaining great advances for the Country in the last few years, with respect to the special needs of these countrymen of ours.
