Solidarity event
Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended, in the Residence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, in Lisbon, a solidarity event for the benefit of the Portuguese Palliative Care Association.
Meeting in the Palace of Belém
Mrs. Cavaco Silva organized, in the Palace of Belém, a meeting of ladies from all over the Country, who are responsible for institutions providing refuge and care for children and youths in risk or abandonment situations, who have been deprived of a family environment or of the enjoyment of their basic rights.
Visit to Old Age Home
Mrs. Cavaco Silva took part, in Coimbra, in the commemorative celebrations of the 350th Anniversary of the Venerable Third Order of the Penitence of St. Francis, and took the opportunity to visit the Old Age Home, the Home for Displaced Persons and the Carmo Church.
Figueira Almshouse Works
Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended today, in Figueira da Foz, the inaugural act of the António Biscaia Crèche and Kindergarten, of the “Figueira Almshouse Works ", having also visited the Costa Ramos and Silva Soares homes.
Imagine Cup 2009
Mrs. Cavaco Silva took part, in the Culturgest auditorium, Lisbon, in the prize award ceremony of the 2009 Imagine Cup Prizes, an international competition for students organized by Microsoft, with the objective to encourage creativity and technological innovation.
Teaching of Portuguese in Turkey
Included in the programme of the State Visit of the President of the Republic to Turkey, Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited Ankara University, where she witnessed the signature of a Protocol of Cooperation between the University and the Portuguese Camões Institute, for the pursuit of a programme of Portuguese Studies.
