Exhibition “The Nativity Crèche - Maria Cavaco Silva Collection” on view in Cidadela Palace, Cascais

Mrs. Cavaco Silva opened, in the Cidadela Palace, Cascais, the exhibition “The Nativity Crèche - Maria Cavaco Silva Collection”, where approximately 250 crèches from her personal collection, in ceramics, wood, tin, clay and cork, amongst other materials, are on show.

This exhibition, which will be open until 10 January, brings together pieces from several origins, from far off countries to traditional Portuguese centres of nativity crèche production. In addition to artisanal work, it also comprises others with great symbolic value made by social solidarity institutions.

The revenues from this exhibition will revert, in 2016, to another social solidarity institution, in this case the “O Século” Foundation, which continues the work of the previous “O Século” Children’s’ Bathing Colony, in Cascais County.

This Foundation provides daily aid to more than 650 persons, between children, aged people and needy families, which benefit from the institutions intervention in 16 different areas.
