Mira Sintra Education Centre for the Handicapped Citizen

Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited the Mira Sintra Education Centre for the Handicapped Citizen, a Social Solidarity Cooperative Society set up in 1976, which develops quality services for the intellectually handicapped and multi-deficient and for other disadvantaged persons, promoting their rights and contributing towards the improvement of their well being.
The Mira Sintra Education Centre for the Handicapped Citizen (CECD) has an annual attendance of approximately 1,500 people, amongst children, youths and adults that require qualified help, due to development disturbances or pronounced deficit in their educational, work or social behaviour.
With its action covering primarily the area of the County of Sintra, CECD Mira Sintra has available different services in differing areas, with specific programmes and multidisciplinary teams adapted to the needs and characteristics of the attending persons.
