The President witnesses a protocol of agreement between the Camões Institute and the University of Goa

The President of the Republic was present at the signature of a protocol of agreement between the Camões Institute and the University of Goa, opened an exhibition of photography by Graça Sarsfield and hosted a reception for Goan authorities and individualities which featured a performance by “fado” singer Katia Guerreiro.

President honoured in Goa

The University of Goa grants a “honoris causa” doctorate to the President of the Republic

President Cavaco Silva was awarded a “honoris causa” doctorate by the University of Goa (the first personage to receive such an honour), and at the time proffered an important speech to an audience consisting of numerous individuals who had graduated from this educational establishment and who were awarded their diplomas and prizes.

The President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended mass in the Goa Basilica

The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended a mass held in Portuguese at the Bom Jesus Basilica, in Velha Goa (old city), with a choir composed by Goanese and Portuguese artists.

President visits churches and museums in Goa

The President of the Republic and Mrs Maria Cavaco Silva visited the restored Nossa Senhora do Monte Church in Goa. Then, in Old Goa, they visited the Archaeological Museum and the Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi.
