Lunch with Chancellors of Universities
The President of the Republic met, in Beijing, with representatives of Chinese Universities, together with representatives of Portuguese Universities who accompanied the State Visit to China, during a luncheon, prior to which agreements were subscribed between the higher education institutions of both countries.
Meeting of entrepreneurs from both countries
The President of the Republic presided, in Beijing, at the closure of the Portugal-China Economic Seminar, which brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs from both countries, and where he delivered an address.
Beijing’s Museum of World Art
The President of the Republic opened, in Beijing’s Museum of World Art, the exhibition “Where is China ?rdquo;, with works of visual art by Portuguese and Chinese artists.
In Beiwai University
The President of the Republic visited the Beijing University of Foreign Studies (Beiwai), where courses in Portuguese Studies are taught, having delivered a speech and answered queries from students and lecturers of those courses.
Breakfast with important entrepreneurs
The President of the Republic held a meeting, in Beijing, with corporate officers from large Chinese companies, and equally met, separately, with the Chairman of China Three Gorges, Lu Chun, and with the Chairman of the State Grid, Shu Yinbiao.
Military honours in the People’s Palace
In the most relevant political encounter in his State Visit to China, the President of the Republic met, in China People’s Palace, Beijing, with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
In the Forbidden City
At the start of the programme of his stay in Beijing, included in the State Visit now being held to China People’s Republic, the President of the Republic took a tour in the Forbidden City, in the Chinese capital, together with members of his retinue.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gül, in view of the victims of the accident occurred in a mine in the Soma region.

The President of the Republic arrived in Beijing, continuing his State Visit to China, commenced in Shanghai, having been welcomed with military honours upon his landing at the Chinese capital’s airport.
Signing of protocols and contract
The President of the Republic visited the Shanghai Institute of Medical Matters, having witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol covering scientific research between this Institute and Minho University, as well as a contract with the Portuguese company TechnoPhage.
