Reading and transcription of verses from "Lusíadas"
The President of the Republic took part in the project "Lusíadas manuscript", launched by the Setúbal City Council, and which brought to the Setubalense Club numerous personalities who read and transcribed verses from Luis de Camões’ epic poem.
Meeting with personalities
Following the programme of the commemorations of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic met and had lunch with national and Setúbal personalities whose various activities were relevant to the Nation and to Setúbal.
The President spoke to the Portuguese Diaspora
On the occasion of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic addressed a message to the Portuguese Diaspora.
Exhibition approaches themes verging on the Portuguese Diaspora.
An exhibition named “Land Away, Land near", which approaches themes of the Portuguese Diaspora, was opened in Setúbal, within the commemoration ceremonies of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities.
Honouring the Azeitão poet
At the beginning of the programme of the Commemoration Ceremonies of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic inaugurated, in Praça da República, in Azeitão, a statue honouring the poet Sebastião da Gama.
The President of the Republic will decorate, during the Commemoration Ceremonies of the National Day of Portugal, in Setúbal, the following personalities:
The President of the Republic called a meeting of the Council of State, to be held on June 15, at 18.00 hours, in order to discuss the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2007.
The President invited the President of the European Commission to brief the Council of State on the challenges which are currently facing the European Union.
Glória Macapagal-Arroyo in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Glória Macapagal-Arroyo. After the audience, Madam Macapagal-Arroyo was invited to lunch at the Palace of Belém.
Officers of CDS-PP in Belém
The President of the Republic received the Officers of the Social Democrat Central – Popular Party.
National Agricultural Fair
The President of the Republic visited the National Agricultural Fair, in Santarém, where he awarded the prizes for the National Olive Oil Contest.
