Ceremony in the Jerónimos Monastery
The President of the Republic attended, in the Jerónimos Monastery, in Lisbon, the ceremony for the presentation of the António Champalimaud Vision Award 2007, where he delivered a speech.

The President of the Republic hosted, in Brussels, a reception for the Portuguese staff of the European Institutions. The reception was held in the official residence of the Portuguese Permanent Representative with the European Union.
Speech delivered in the Strasbourg Parliament
During the course of his official visit to the European Institutions, the President of the Republic delivered a speech, today, during the plenary session of the European Parliament which received him in a Ceremonial Session.
President welcomed in Strasbourg
The President of the Republic visited the Strasbourg City Hall and held a meeting with the Mayor and Senator of the High French Rhine, Fabienne Keller, who awarded him the gold medal of the City.
Dinner with MEPs in Strasbourg
At the beginning of an official visit to the European Institutions, the President of the Republic contacted with Portuguese MEPs during a dinner in Strasbourg.

Having received, for enactment as law, Parliamentary Decree No. 160/X, which approves the structural organization of the National Republican Guard, I have decided, in the terms of §1 of article No.136 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, not to enact this legislation, based upon the following grounds:

1. The President of the Republic decided today to send back to Parliament its Decree No. 160/X, which approves the structural organization of the National Republican Guard, requesting that it be reappraised.
