Cathedral of Santiago do Chile
At the end of their stay in Santiago, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva took a tour of the centre of the Chilean capital, visiting the Plaza de Armas and the city’s cathedral.
The President of the Republic attended the closing ceremony of the XVII Iberian American Summit, during which were signed the final documents of the meeting of Heads of State and of Government, which was held in Santiago do Chile.
On the occasion of the XVII Iberian American Summit, which took place in Santiago do Chile, the President of the Republic held a meeting with the President of Brazil, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva.
The President of the Republic, together with the remaining Heads of State and of Government taking part in the Santiago Summit, planted a native tree in the new Iberian American Park, located in the Cerro San Cristóbal, in the Chilean capital.

The President of the Republic was the first Head of State to address a speech in the inaugural ceremony of the XVII Iberian American Summit, immediately after that of the host, the Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, and of the Secretary General of the Iberian American Conference, Enrique Iglesias.

The President of the Republic hosted a lunch for the Portuguese entrepreneurs who took part in the Portugal-Chile Entrepreneurial Meeting, which was held within the programme of his official visit to Chile.
