The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to the former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, on his being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize

The President of the Republic received, in audience, a delegation of CDS-PP (Social Democratic Centre – Popular Party).

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Toshiba World President, Atsutoshi Nishida.
Panels installed on the roof of the Palace
The Presidency of the Republic has completed the installation of 126 photovoltaic panels with the objective to reduce the energy bill and CO2 emissions in the Palace of Belém, a system which already allows the coverage of 15% of the Presidency’s electric power usage.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the signatories of the Support Platform to the Campaign for Dona Estefânia Hospital, presided by Prof. Doctor António Gentil Martins.
In Praça do Município, Lisbon
The President of the Republic took part, in Praça do Município, Lisbon, in the ceremonies commemorating the Day of the Proclamation of the Republic, raised the National Standard in the veranda of the County Hall after which he addressed a speech. This was followed by a march-past of the Armed Forces on parade.
Performance by the “Deolinda” Band
On the day when the anniversary of the proclamation of the Portuguese Republic, in 1910, was celebrated, the Palace of Belém was open to the public until 18.00 hours, offering the 9,300 people visiting it throughout the day a diversified number of events.
Display of Portuguese designers
The first campaign of the Route to Youth ended with the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, attending the Portugal Fashion display, held in Sala Tejo of the Pavilhão Atlântico.
Contemporary Art in Belém
The President of the Republic officially opened the exhibition "18 Presidents, one Palace and Many Other Things", with works by contemporary artists, and which will be on show to the public in the Palace of Belém, on 5 de October and until the end of November.
