The President of the Republic visited the Association of the Armed Forces Handicapped Personnel (ADFA), where he awarded the Association the degree of Honorary Member of the Order of Freedom.
President received Season’s Greetings
The Prime Minister and members of the Government were received by the President of the Republic, to whom they presented the Season’s Greetings.
Parliamentary deputation in Belém
President Aníbal Cavaco Silva received the Speaker, Deputy Speakers and the Leaders of the Parliamentary Parties, who presented him with the Season’s Greetings.
Christmas Party in the Palace of Belém
The staff of the Presidency of the Republic and their families attended a Christmas Party held in the Palace of Belém, with performances by the Porto Puppet Theatre and the Lisbon Young Voices Choir.
PEN Club prizes
The President of the Republic attended, in the Portuguese Society of Authors, the ceremony where the Portuguese PEN Club Literary Prizes were awarded, in relation to works published in 2007.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, with respect to the passing way of former President Tassos Papadopoulos.

Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator awarded to Manoel de Oliveira
The President of the Republic paid tribute to film maker Manoel de Oliveira, on the occasion of his 100th anniversary, decorating him with the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator, in a ceremony which was held in the Palace of Belém.
1. The President of the Republic requested today from the Constitutional Court the preventive assessment of the constitutionality of item a) of §1 of article no. 112 of the Parliamentary decree approving the review of the Labour Code.
Factory officially opened
President Cavaco Silva presided, in Oliveira do Bairro, to the inaugural ceremony of the Solar Plus Photovoltaic Panel Factory.
Inaugural act
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Continuous Care Unit of the Vouzela Holy Almshouse, where he unveiled a plaque allusive to the event.
