Official opening of the Playhouse
During his visit to Anadia, the President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the new Playhouse, and assisted to the inaugural show performed by the “Clunny Vox” Juvenile Choir Group and the “Sons do Centro” Group.
Received by a guard of honour of Volunteer Firemen, the President of the Republic presided at a welcoming session in the Castelo de Paiva County Hall, during which he addressed a speech.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation from the National Committee for the Commemorations of the Centenary of the Republic.
The President of the Republic addressed a message to Parliament with respect to the return of the decree which introduces changes to Parliamentary Electoral Legislation.
The President of the Republic decided not to enact the decree which altered the Parliamentary Electoral Legislation.

Prize awarded
The President of the Republic attended, in Estoril, the ceremony awarding the Fernando Namora Literary Prize to author Mário Claudio, during which he addressed a speech.
Group welcomed in Presidential Office
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted a group of members of the National Centre for Culture which, in one of their usual Sunday Tours, visited the Palace of Belém.
Aid for APDP
At the end of the prize awarding dinner of the “Portuguese Solidarity Cup” Golf Tournament, which this year took place in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva presented the President of the Portuguese Diabetics Protection Association with a cheque in aid of the works of the Association.
Golf tournament for solidarity
The President of the Republic attended, in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, the opening of the “Portuguese Solidarity Cup” Golf Tournament, to which he granted his Superior Sponsorship. The funds obtained from the companies sponsoring the teams that took part in the tournament were donated to the Portuguese Diabetics Association.
IV CNIS Conference in Fátima
The President of the Republic presided, in the Paulo VI Pastoral Centre, at the Opening Ceremony of the IV Conference of the National Confederation of Institutions of Solidarity (CNIS), to which he delivered an address.
