Following today’s announcement by the Holy See over the canonization of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, a ceremony which will be held on 26 April, in the Vatican, the President of the Republic expressed his satisfaction with the decision in a message reading as follows:
III Medical Conference
President Cavaco Silva presided, in the Lisbon Conference Centre, at the Opening Session of the III Conference of the Portuguese Speaking Medical Community, where he delivered a speech.
Luncheon in the Palace of Belém
The President of the Republic hosted, in the Palace of Belém, a luncheon in the honour of the Ambassadors of Asian countries accredited in Lisbon. The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs was also present.
Talent Foundation received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation from the Talent Foundation, based upon the social network known as "The Star Tracker".
Homage Ceremony
President Cavaco Silva presided at the Ceremony celebrating the 140th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Gago Coutinho and that of the 50th anniversary of his decease, at which he delivered an address.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Officers of the Lisbon Chamber of Commerce.
Decoration awarded
The President of the Republic decorated with the degree of Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator, Superintendent Luís Carrilho, who is retiring from the duties as Head of Security in the Presidency of the Republic, to take up those of Commander of the United Nations Police Force in East Timor.
The President of the Republic ended the 2nd Campaign of the Route to Youth with a visit to the former Gunpowder Factory, in Barcarena, where the Centre for Experimental Art of the Portuguese Club of Arts and Ideas (CIPAI) is installed.
