Excellency,
After receiving, to be enacted as law, Parliamentary Decree No. 285/X, altering Law No. 19/2003, dated 20 June, which governs the rules applicable to the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns, I have decided, in the terms of article No. 136 of the Constitution, not to enact that legislation, with the following bases:
Festive reception in the city
The President of the Republic arrived in Santarém to initiate, in this city, the programme of the commemorations of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and the Portuguese Communities.
With the prize winners
The President of the Republic took part, in Belém Cultural Centre, Lisbon, in the Award Ceremony of the COTEC Prize for Entrepreneurial Innovation in the Portuguese Diaspora, attributed this year in equal terms to two winners.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation of the Legislative assembly of the Azores Autonomous Region, headed by its Speaker, Dr. Francisco Coelho Lopes Cabral.
Audience to the former Head of the Japanese Government
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the former Prime Minister of Japan, Junichiro Koizumi.
President voted in Bartolomeu de Gusmão School
The President of the Republic exercised his voting right in the Elections for the European Parliament, and voted in Lisbon.
Message from the President of the Republic
The President of the Republic addressed a message to the Portuguese concerning the Elections to the European Parliament, to be held on 7 June.
On the occasion of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic decorated the following individualities of the Communities and foreign citizens:
Invited by the President of the Republic, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, D. Juan Carlos and D. Sofia, will visit the Madeira Autonomous Region, on 30 July and 1 August next, accompanied by President and Mrs. Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
The Mayor and Councillors of Santarém unanimously decided to award the City’s Gold Medal to the President of the Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, as part of the programme of the Commemoration of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Communities, which will be held on 9 and 10 June.
