Gazeta 2008 Prizes awarded at CGD
The President of the Republic attended, in the head office of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, in Lisbon, the annual dinner of the Press Club (Clube de Jornalistas), during which the Gazeta 2008 Prizes were awarded.
Since the Election for Local Authorities will be held on 11 October next, the traditional celebration of the constitution of the Republic in the Lisbon City Hall, with the attendance of the President of the Republic, will not take place in the current year.

The President of the Republic visited the county of Sabugal in order to ascertain the consequences of the great fires which occurred in the region in the last days of August and first days of September.

2009 Prize awarded in Jerónimos Monastery
The President of the Republic attended, in the Jerónimos Monastery, in Lisbon, the award ceremony of the António Champalimaud 2009 Prize for Vision to the Helen Keller International institution, where he delivered a speech.
