The following communiqué is published concerning the audiences given by the President of the Republic to the leaders of the political parties:
The President of the Republic sent to his Indonesian counterpart, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a message of condolences over the victims of the earthquake in Sumatra.
Exhibition on view in the Palace
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in the Palace of Belém, of the programme of the celebrations of the 5th anniversary of the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic.
The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic issues the following clarification:

Presidential message
The President of the Republic addressed a message to the Portuguese concerning the Parliamentary Elections to be held on 27 September.
In response to the various queries placed to the Presidency of the Republic by the media, relative to the Visit to Portugal of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI during next year, at the invitation of His Excellency the President of the Republic, it is made clear that the contents and occasion of this announcement were agreed between the Presidency of the Republic and the Vatican through the Portuguese Embassy to the Holy See.
