The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in Setúbal, of the new paper factory of the Portucel-Soporcel Group, and addressed a speech during the inaugural ceremony of the modern industrial facility.
Greeting airmen returned from Afghanistan
The President of the Republic visited Air Force Base No. 6 (BA6), in Montijo, where he had the opportunity of welcoming the Air Force Detachment which recently completed its mission in Afghanistan.

Ambassador received in audience
The President of the Republic received, in audience, Ambassador Pedro Nuno Bártolo, to hand him the letters credential as the diplomatic representative of Portugal in Moscow.
Visit to the Waterfall Garden
Members of the Association of the Friends of the Ajuda Botanical Gardens visited the Waterfall Garden in the Palace of Belém, where they were given details concerning the recent refurbishment work carried out there and viewed the exhibitions on show in the new galleries occupying the former bird nurseries.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the officers of the Entrepreneurial Committee of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
The President of the Republic received yesterday, in audience, the Prime Minister, gave his agreement to the proposal of the appointment of the new Secretaries of State to the XVIII Constitutional Government, and set the date for their respective empowerment on 31 October, at 12.00 hours, in the Palace of Ajuda.
COTEC in Madrid
The President of the Republic attended, in Madrid, the closing ceremony of the V COTEC Europe Meeting, in which some 60 Portuguese entrepreneurs were present. The President had then the occasion to address the Meeting.
