President listens to choral groups
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva listened to the “ Janeiras" (traditional Portuguese Christmas Carols), in the Palace of Belém, sung by the groups “The Friends”, from the Cultural and Recreational Association of Olhos de Água, Albufeira, “Da Capo”, from Carcavelos, Cascais, and “Cantorias”, from the Association of Vila Chã de Sá, Viseu.

The President of the Republic received greetings for the New Year from the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces, whom he later hosted for lunch in the Palace of Belém.

The President of the Republic enacted today the second amendment to the 2009 State Budget (Budget Amendment) – Parliamentary Decree No. 5/XI, which alters Law No. 64-A/2008, dated 31 December - which was received in the Presidency of the Republic on 23 December 2009.
1. The President of the Republic enacted today Parliamentary Decree No. 4/XI which, approved on 11 December, was received in the Presidency of the Republic on 21 December. This bill approves the first alteration to Law No. 110/2009, dated 16 September, (which approved the Code of Contributory Procedures of the Social Security Providential System), establishing a new date for its coming into force.
