Arrival in Prague
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva arrived in Prague to begin a three day Visit of State to the Czech Republic at the invitation of the Czech President, Václav Klaus.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao over the victims of the earthquake which devastated the Chinese province of Qinghai.

Decoration in Belém
The President of the Republic decorated, with the degree of Commander of the Military Order of Aviz, Major Carlos Paulino, who will be leaving his office as Field Adjutant to the President, to command Flying Squadron 552 and the Acrobatic Patrol Rotors of Portugal, at Air Base No. 11, in Beja.
Visiting the new spa
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Estoril Thermal Baths, built on the site of the ancient thermal water source, after which he visited the facilities and the associated spa.

Routes IV - 2009/2010
"The Challenge of Economic Recovery” is the title of the introduction that the President of the Republic wrote for his book "Routes IV", which is a collection of the most significant speeches delivered during the fourth year of his mandate, from March 9th 2009.
With five chapters and several attachments, as well as the steps of the presidential agenda and dozens of illustrations, the volume “Routes IV” has 352 pages.
Avenue Marshal António Spínola
The President of the Republic presided, in Lisbon, at the unveiling of the name plate of Avenida Marechal António de Spínola, during which he delivered a speech.
Signing the Book of Condolences
The President of the Republic visited the Polish Embassy in Lisbon to sign the book of condolences upon the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski in an aircraft accident.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Interim President of Poland and Speaker of the Polish Lower House of Parliament, Bronislaw Komorowski, on the death of the Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, in an aircraft accident.
