Speech in the National Parliament
The President of the Republic addressed a Message to the People of Cape Verde during an Extraordinary Session of the National Parliament, held to welcome him as a part of the programme of the State Visit carried out to the Country.
Award of decoration
The President of the Republic was excoriated by his Cape Verde counterpart Pedro Pires with the First Degree of the Order of "Amílcar Cabral", at the beginning of a two day State Visit to Cape Verde.
March Past in the City of Lisbon Avenue
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended, in the City of Praia, the Military March Past commemorative of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Cape Verde, in which a platoon of cadets of the Portuguese Naval School took part, as well as five Portuguese paratroopers who jumped to land in the capital of Cape Verde.
Ceremony in the House of Parliament
At the invitation of Head of State Pedro Pires, the President of the Republic attended, in the City of Praia, the Solemn Ceremony commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Cape Verde, which was held in the Country’s House of Parliament.
Arrival at the City of Praia
The President of the Republic arrived at the City of Praia to take part in the Ceremonies of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Cape Verde, and to carry out a two day State Visit at the invitation of his Cape Verde counterpart, Commander Pedro Pires.
The President of the Republic paid tribute to entrepreneur Álvaro Pinho da Costa Leite, a natural of Vale de Cambra who was noted for his enterprising spirit.
The President of the Republic visited, in Sever do Vouga, the company A. Silva Matos, Metalomecânica, SA, on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, and viewed the exhibition of products manufactured by the companies belonging to the Group with that same name.
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural acts, in Leirosa, Figueira da Foz, of the investments carried out in the CELBI facilities, a company belonging to the Altri Group. During the ceremony the President addressed a speech.
The President of the Republic requested today from the Constitutional Court the supervision of the constitutionality of the contents of article No. 1 of Law No. 11/2010, dated 15 June, which decreed a new Income Tax rate, and of article No. 1 of Law No. 12-A/2010, dated 30 June, which approved a set of additional measures of budgetary consolidation.
Audience with General Håkan Syrén
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Håkan Syrén.
