Visit to Leba Mountain
The President of the Republic met, in Lubango, with members of the Portuguese Community resident in the Angolan provinces of Huíla and Namibe, an event included in the programme of his State Visit to Angola.
Arrival at Lubango
On the third day of his State Visit to Angola, the President of the Republic travelled to Lubango, capital of the province of Huíla, where he was welcomed with military honours and local ethnic dances, and greeted by thousands of people in the city’s streets.
Meeting with Portuguese in Angola
At the end of the second day of the State Visit to Angola, the President of the Republic held a meeting, in Luanda with more than a thousand members of the Portuguese Community residing in the Angolan capital.
Audience with Isaías Samakuva
The President of the Republic received in audience, in Luanda, the secretary general of UNITA, the main party of the Angolan opposition, Dr. Isaías Samakuva.
Industrial Fair in Luanda
Within the programme of the State Visit which is taking place in Angola, the President of the Republic attended the official opening of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), where he viewed several stands, contacted Portuguese and Angolan entrepreneurs and delivered an address.
Visit to the new Factory
The Presidents of Portugal and Angola presided jointly at the inaugural act, in Kinfangondo, Cacuaco, near Luanda, a manufacturing facility of NOVICER - Cerâmica de Angola, of the Portuguese Mota-Engil group, which produces construction materials.
Toast between Presidents
At the end of the first day of the State Visit of the President of the Republic to Angola, the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, hosted a banquet, held in the Presidential Palace, in honour of the Portuguese Head of State and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.
Exhibition in the Cultural Centre- Camões Institute
The President of the Republic opened, in the Cultural Centre - Camões Institute, in Luanda, the exhibition “One Road, Two Views”, with photographs by the Portuguese artist Jordi Burch and texts by the Angolan writer Ondjaki.
Speech at the University
In a speech delivered in the Faculty of Law of Agostinho Neto University, in Luanda, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva referred the importance of the promotion of the Portuguese language, as an assertion of the common heritage of the Portuguese speaking community.
Visit to Library
At a ceremony held in the Palace of the Luanda Provincial Government, the President of the Republic received from the hands of the Governor of Luanda, Dr. Francisca do Espírito Santo, the key of honour to the Angolan capital.
