Visit to the School
On the day the centenary of the Establishment of the Republic is commemorated in Portugal, the President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the refurbishment work carried out in D. Filipa de Lencastre Secondary School, in Lisbon.
Ceremony in the Municipal Square
The President of the Republic attended, in Lisbon, the commemorative ceremonies of the centenary of the Establishing of the Republic, having raised the National Standard on the veranda of the City Hall and delivered a speech, after which 100 children cast their hands in plaster, in a gesture named “Prints of the Centenary”, this being followed by the march past on parade of the forces of the Republican Guard.
Within the Commemorative Celebration of the Centenary of the Establishment of the Republic, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended several concerts included in the programme of performances open to the public.
Inaugural visit
The President of the Republic opened the exhibition "Loures in the Awakening of the Republic", on view in the Vieira da Silva Municipal Gallery, in the City Park, in Loures.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of the Macau born lawyer, professor and writer Henrique de Senna Fernandes.

Meeting with the President of East Timor
The President of the Republic received, in audience, his counterpart from East Timor, José Ramos Horta, whom he later hosted at lunch.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the officers of the Maritime Sports Club, which is celebrating the centenary of its foundation.
Visit to exhibition
The President of the Republic officially opened, in the pavilion of the Portuguese Industrial Association, in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, the World Stamp Exhibition 2010.
Exhibition ‘Republic and Publicity’
The President of the Republic opened, in the Palace of Belém, the programme of events commemorating the Centenary of the Establishment of the Republic, which runs between 1 and 5 October, with the Palace open to the public.
