Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing received in Belém
The President of the Republic received the Grand Master of the Sovereign and Military Order of Malta, Fra’ Matthew Festing, who is carrying out a State Visit to Portugal.
The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to author Gonçalo M. Tavares, who was awarded the Prize for the Best Foreign Book published in France in 2010.

Prize awarded to ASTA
The President of the Republic attended, in the Stock Exchange Palace, in Porto, the closing session of the Portugal Solidarity Conference, organized by the Manuel António da Mota Foundation and by TSF-Rádio Jornal Radio Station.
São João Hospital emergency wards
The President of the Republic visited São João Hospital, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of that health unit in Porto, where he viewed the exhibition commemorating the event and the architectural model showing the expansion project.
Exhibition in Serralves
The President of the Republic visited, in the Serralves Foundation, in Porto, the exhibition “To the Arts, Citizens”, and later met with the Serralves Founders’ Committee.
Ban Ki-moon received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, who travelled to Lisbon on the occasion of the Summit of the NATO Heads of State and of Government.
President with Anders Fogh Rasmussen
The President of the Republic presided, jointly with the NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, at the working dinner of the Heads of State and of Government of the Atlantic Alliance, held on the first day of the Summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which took place in Lisbon.
Order of the Cross of Recognition
The President of the Republic received, in the Palace of Belém, the President of Latvia, Vladis Zatlers, who decorated him in a gesture of gratitude for his position in the defence of the independence of the Baltic States.

The President of the Republic received, in the Palace of Belém, the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, as scheduled for the working visit that is being carried out to Portugal, where both Heads of State held a private meeting, prior to a working lunch that included the respective deputations.
At the invitation of the President of the Republic, the Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta will carry out a State Visit to Portugal, from 23 to 25 November 2010.
