Inaugural act of Educational Centre
The President of the Republic visited Mesão Frio Municipality, received in the County Hall and then presided at the inaugural act of the local Educational Centre, where he viewed the facilities and after which he delivered an address.
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Boris Tadic, will carry out an official visit to Portugal, on 26 and 27 March, at the invitation of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
SCND meeting in the Palace of Belém
The Supreme Council for National Defence held an ordinary meeting presided by the President of the Republic.
At the end of the meeting, that took place in the Palace of Belém, a communiqué was read by the Secretary to the Council, General João Goulão de Melo.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Mayor of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab.
Olli Rehn received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Vice President of the European Commission, Olli Rehn.
The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to King Albert II of the Belgians, over the victims of the traffic accident occurred in the Swiss region of Valais.

Empowering Ceremony
The President of the Republic empowered in office, in the Palace of Belém, the new Secretary of State for Energy, Dr. Artur Álvaro Laureano Homem da Trindade.
Ambassador Francisco Xavier Esteves
The President of the Republic received, in audience, Ambassador Francisco Xavier Esteves, to whom he handed letters credential as the Portuguese diplomatic representative in Rabat, Morocco.
In the terms of item h) of article no. 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal presented by the Prime Minister for the relinquishment, at his request, of Engineer Henrique Joaquim Gomes as Secretary of State for Energy.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the National Director of the Public Security Police, Superintendent Paulo Jorge Valente Gomes.
