Meeting with entrepreneurs
The President of the Republic held a luncheon meeting with Portuguese and Timorese entrepreneurs who had previously held an entrepreneurial seminar on the occasion of his State Visit to East Timor.

Welcoming Cavaco Silva
At the start of his State Visit to East Timor, the President of the Republic held a meeting with the new Timorese President, Taur Matan Ruak, following upon the welcoming ceremony with military honours, which took place in the presidential palace.
New Museum in Dili
The President of the Republic took part in the inaugural ceremony of the Archive and Timorese Resistance Museum, in Dili, viewing the exhibitions being shown there, covering the themes “Resisting is Winning” and “East Timor’s Cultural Assets”.
Meeting with Vijay Nanbiar and Ameerah Haq
Within the scope of his stay in Dili, the President of the Republic received, in audience, the United Nations Assistant Secretary General, Vijay Nanbiar, who visited East Timor as representative of the United Nations Secretary General, and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for East Timor, Ms. Ameerah Haq.
Ceremony in the Presidential Palace
The President of the Republic attended, in Dili, the commemorative ceremonies of the 10th anniversary of the independence of East Timor, which included the raising of the Timorese national Banner in the Presidential palace and a military march-past.
Empowerment of President Taur Matan Ruak
The President of the Republic attended, in Taci Tolu, Dili, the empowerment ceremony of the new President of the East Timor People’s Republic, Taur Matan Ruak.
Meeting with Ramos Horta
Approximately two hours before terminating his mandate, the President of the People’s Republic of East Timor, José Ramos Horta, received the President of the Republic at a meeting in the Presidential Palace in Dili.

The President of the Republic arrived in Dili, at the invitation of the Timorese authorities, to take part in the commemorative ceremonies of the 10th anniversary of the independence of East Timor, in the empowerment of the new President, Taur Matan Ruak, and to hold a State Visit.
