The President of the Republic and the Princes of Asturias preside, on Monday, October 15, at the ceremonial award of the international prize “Puente de Alcântara” to the Alqueva Multi-purpose Hydroelectric Plant.
The ceremony takes place in Alqueva, at 16.00 hours and will be noted by the inauguration of a Memorial representing Alqueva in its different phases of Project, Construction, Terrain and Objectives and which will also pay tribute to all who made possible its materialization.
Instituted by the San Benito de Alcântara Foundation, the “Puente de Alcântara” prize is a mark of distinction for the more outstanding Spanish, Portuguese and Iberian-American public construction works.
Prior to the Alqueva ceremony, the Princes of Asturias will visit Beja at the invitation of the President of the Republic, where they will tour the Church of Our Lady of Prazeres, be welcomed in the City Hall and enjoy a private luncheon party.
