Overflying Alqueva Dam
The President of the Republic carried out a visit to the Sphere of Influence of the Alqueva area, in Southern Alentejo, overflying the dam with the same name, some of the related infrastructures and several agricultural developments benefiting from the Alqueva irrigation system.
After overflying the lagoons, reservoirs, channels and pumping stations, on board a C-295 aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force, President Cavaco Silva landed to visit several agricultural developments producing walnuts, corn, tomato, wine, pears and plums, as well as agro-tourist resort.
The activities of the Alqueva Development and Infrastructure enterprise (EDIA) were also the subject of a presentation to the President of the Republic.
