Visit to FOR-MAR, in Peniche
The President of the Republic began, in Peniche, a campaign dedicated to fisheries, with a visit to the Fisheries and Sea Professional Training Centre (FOR-MAR).
In the city’s fishing harbour, President Cavaco Silva boarded the research ship “Noruega” to attend a presentation relative to scientific research on sardine stocks off the Portuguese coast.
Later, the President inaugurated the Centre for Research and Development, Training and Dissemination of Maritime Knowledge (CETEMARES), of the Leiria Polytechnic Institute, and visited the biology, fisheries and aquiculture laboratories.
In the CETEMARES facilities, President Cavaco Silva took part in a meeting with the Fisheries representative associations, namely ship-owners, producers of seine fishing, industry trade unions and also fish preparation and marketing enterprises.
