President congratulated cyclist Rui Costa, third time consecutive winner of the Tour de Suisse

The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to cyclist Rui Costa for his third consecutive victory in the Tour de Suisse.

Following is the text of the congratulatory message from President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised that you have won the Tour de Suisse for the third consecutive year, I hasten to congratulate you for having achieved this extraordinary result. You are the first person to have achieved this deed, to have triumphed for the third consecutive time in a world competition.

This victory is the result of much work, dedication and determination, crucial factors in sports success.

The title you obtained has confirmed a career featured, in the last few years, by several triumphs in national and international competitions, especially that of World Cycling Champion.

I congratulate you, once again, for your outstanding sportsmanship and emphasize that the achieved result highly contributes to the valuing of Sports in Portugal.

Please accept my congratulations e sincere wishes for personal happiness and further successes in sports.
