In Beiwai University
The President of the Republic visited the Beijing University of Foreign Studies (Beiwai), where courses in Portuguese Studies are taught, having delivered a speech and answered queries from students and lecturers of those courses.
In the University Library, President Cavaco Silva witnessed the signature of a quadrilateral cooperation agreement covering the teaching of the Portuguese and Chinese languages, subscribed between Lisbon University, Beiwai University, Camões – Institute of Language and Cooperation and Hanban – Confucius Institute.
At the end of the visit, the President of the Republic, Mrs. Cavaco Silva and the Chancellor of the University, Peng Long, planted the “Tree of Friendship” in an external garden.
