Signature in the Presidential Cabinet
The President of the Republic enacted today the 3000th legislative bill since the beginning of his mandates, in March 2006.
The now enacted Decree-Law establishes a new regime for the assessment of private investment projects, in order to simplify administrative procedures – comprising approval, authorization and licensing –, to shorten delays and to forego formalities.
The signature of President Cavaco Silva enacted the 3000th item of legislation – comprising 610 Parliamentary bills and 3290 from the Government. Since the beginning of the current legislature, the President enacted 172 Parliamentary bills and 621 from the Government.
From the date he commenced his duties, President Cavaco Silva decided to veto politically 18 Parliamentary bills and 3 Governmental bills, with a further 12 Parliamentary bills receiving the presidential veto due to non abidance to constitutional rules.
The President of the Republic decided to convey to the Constitutional Court 16 requests for preventive checking of constitutionality, as well as 4 requests for successive checking.
