Honouring the Azeitão poet
At the beginning of the programme of the Commemoration Ceremonies of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic inaugurated, in Praça da República, in Azeitão, a statue honouring the poet Sebastião da Gama.
The ceremony was accompanied by the local philharmonic orchestra, after which the President of the Sebastião da Gama Cultural Association addressed a speech. Following this, the President of the Republic uncovered an allusive plaque to the ceremony.
