President Cavaco Silva congratulated President elect of Iceland

The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to the President elect of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson.

Following is the text of the message of congratulations addressed by President Cavaco Silva:

“Mister President,

On the occasion of Your Excellency’s re-election to the high office of President of Iceland, I want to address you, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and sincere votes of success.

I am certain that Your Excellency’s mandate will allow pursuing the strengthening of the already close links of friendship and cooperation between Iceland and Portugal.

Renewing my congratulations, I beg you to accept, Mister President, my friendly wishes for your personal welfare and for the prosperity and progress of the People of Iceland.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
