Arrival in Belém
At the beginning of their Official Visit to Portugal the Princes of Asturias were received, in the Palace of Belém by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.
After laying a wreath on the tomb of Luis Vaz de Camões, in Jerónimos Monastery, the Princes of Asturias were conveyed to the Palace of Belém, where they were received with military honours.
Following this ceremony, President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva joined the couple for a brief encounter, after which the Head of State and the Prince of Asturias held a meeting together with the delegations of both countries.
Later, the President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted luncheon for the Princes, which included as guests 21 young members of the entrepreneurial, economic, research, cultural, art, musical, fashion, technological, agricultural, gastronomic and architectural professions.
