The President of the Republic accepted the Prime Minister’s proposal for the discharge of the Minister of State and Internal Affairs and for the appointment of a new Minister for Internal Affairs.
Following is the official notice disclosed on the subject:
In the terms of item h) of article No. 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the Prime Minister’s proposal for the discharge, at his request, of Dr. António Luís Santos da Costa from the office of Minister of State and Internal Affairs.
In the terms of the same constitutional provision, the President of the Republic accepted the Prime Minister’s proposal for the appointment of Dr. Rui Carlos Pereira for the office of Minister for Internal Affairs, of Dr. Eduardo Arménio do Nascimento Cabrita for the office of Assistant Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Local Administration, of Professor Doctor Maria Manuel Leitão Marques for the office of Secretary of State for Administrative Modernization, of Dr. José Manuel dos Santos de Magalhães for the office of Assistant Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, of Dr. Ascenso Luís Seixas Simões for the office of Secretary of State for Civil Defense and of Dr. Fernando António Portela Rocha Andrade for the office of Undersecretary of State for Internal Affairs.
The President of the Republic will empower the new members of the Government on May 17 next, at 10 a.m., in the Palace of Belém.
