The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of the entrepreneur Commander Salvador Fernandes Caetano.
Following is the text of the message of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"Upon being told of the passing away of Commander Salvador Fernandes Caetano, one of the better known entrepreneurs in our Country, I want to express to the Family, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our feelings of deepest regret.
Salvador Fernandes Caetano early showed an enormous spirit of initiative, demonstrated by several entrepreneurial projects, always ruled by an enterprising attitude, clearly thought out and with great strategic vision. His innovative contribution in the development of the production and assembly of motor coaches deserves international recognition and places Portuguese industry in this sector as one of the most competitive on a world wide basis.
Also to be emphasized is the determination and persistence that he always placed on the projects he led, as well as the relevance of the responsibility of his companies towards his employees and his neighbourhood.
It is thus with great regret that I render tribute to Commander Salvador Fernandes Caetano, a man who will remain in the memory of all who had the privilege of being acquainted with him and of accompanying the course of his life and his work. An example that stands out relevantly in Portuguese entrepreneurial activity in the last seven decades.
