President addresses congratulatory message to author Gonçalo M. Tavares

The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to author Gonçalo M. Tavares, who was awarded the Prize for the Best Foreign Book published in France in 2010.

Following is the text of the message sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Upon being advised of the award of the Prize for the Best Foreign Book published in France in 2010 for your book Learn to Pray in the Era of Technology, I wish to congratulate you, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, for this distinction that brings so much honour to Portuguese literature.

The award of this prize is the due recognition of your work in a country which, such as France, has an enormously strong literary and cultural tradition.

Please accept my congratulations and sincere wishes for your personal well being and professional progress.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
