The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of actress Mariana Rey Monteiro.
Following is the text of the message sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"In this hour of mourning for the theatre and national culture, I want to render tribute to Mariana Rey Monteiro, whose passing away is a motive of regret for all of us.
Mariana Rey Monteiro was one of the outstanding figures of the last century, on the stage, cinema or television. I am certain that her memory will remain alive for a very long time in all those who got used, throughout generations, to admire her talents and amiability.
On behalf of all the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I address our deepest condolences to the family of Mariana Rey Monteiro.
