Ceremony in the Municipal Square
The President of the Republic attended, in Lisbon, the commemorative ceremonies of the centenary of the Establishing of the Republic, having raised the National Standard on the veranda of the City Hall and delivered a speech, after which 100 children cast their hands in plaster, in a gesture named “Prints of the Centenary”, this being followed by the march past on parade of the forces of the Republican Guard.
Upon arrival in Municipal Square, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva received military honours and attended a performance of the play “The Moustaches of the Res Publica”, by the “O Bando” Theatrical Company.
