The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of journalist Mário Bettencourt Resendes.
Following is the text of the message of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"It was with great regret that I received the news of the passing away of journalist Mário Bettencourt Resendes, to whose Family I address my deepest condolences.
A long standing journalist and a recent political commentator, he spread his professional activity over the written press, radio and television, as a teacher of journalism, and was highly respected and considered by the public.
On behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, I pay tribute and address my deepest regrets over the disappearance of Mário Bettencourt Resendes, a journalist whose name was linked to several of the country’s media organizations and to various professional generations.
